Adult Jazz Dance

Our adult jazz dance classes combine classic jazz technique with energetic, expressive movement. Jazz is a versatile dance style that includes strong technique, musicality, dynamic movement, and performance quality. Classes may include turns, jumps, travelling combinations, choreography, and elements of lyrical dance.

Set to a variety of music styles, including jazz, pop, and Broadway-inspired music, jazz classes help dancers improve strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence while exploring their own style and creativity.

Dress Code: Hair should be tied back. Dancers should wear fitted clothing that allows for movement and bare feet or jazz shoes.

Adult Hip Hop Dance

Get moving and groove to the music with our adult hip hop dance classes. Hip Hop is an energetic and expressive style rooted in street dance culture and includes styles such as breaking, locking, popping, tutting, and shuffling.

Classes focus on rhythm, musicality, coordination, and learning fun choreography in a welcoming environment. Hip Hop is a great way to build confidence, improve fitness, release stress, and enjoy movement without pressure.

Adult Tap Dance

Discover the joy of making music through movement with our adult tap dance classes. Tap is a unique dance style where dancers use their feet and specially designed tap shoes to create rhythms and sounds while performing choreography.

Based on the foundations of jazz music, tap classes develop timing, musicality, coordination, balance, and rhythm. Classes may include technique exercises, choreography, and opportunities for improvisation while exploring a variety of music genres including jazz, rock, funk, and pop.

Tap is a rewarding way to challenge your mind and body while building confidence and having fun in a supportive group environment.

Adult Ballet Classes

Develop grace, strength, flexibility, and confidence through our adult ballet classes. Ballet is a structured dance style performed to classical music that focuses on technique, posture, alignment, balance, and artistic expression.

Classes begin with traditional barre exercises and progress to centre work, travelling combinations, and choreography. Our ballet program is Vaganova-based with Cecchetti influences, designed to help dancers develop strong technique and become versatile performers.

Adult ballet is suitable for a variety of experience levels and is a wonderful way to improve body awareness, coordination, discipline, and confidence while enjoying the artistry of dance.

Dress Code: Hair should be tied back. Fitted clothing or a bodysuit and tights are recommended. Skirts are optional. Ballet slippers are required.

Adult Pointe

Adult Pointe classes are available for dancers with previous pointe experience and instructor approval. Pointe training requires proper technique, strength, and preparation to ensure dancers progress safely.

Dancers interested in beginning pointe for the first time are encouraged to speak with an instructor before registering. Our instructors will help determine readiness and provide guidance for safe pointe training.

Adult Contemporary

Explore creativity, expression, and movement through our Contemporary and Modern Dance classes at Atlantika Dance. Contemporary dance is a versatile and expressive style that combines influences from classical ballet, modern dance, and other movement techniques. It encourages dancers to explore the connection between music, emotion, and movement while developing strong technical foundations.

Contemporary classes incorporate elements of classical dance technique, including alignment, balance, control, strength, and flexibility, while introducing dancers to more fluid and expressive movement. Students work on travelling combinations, floor work, improvisation, and choreography set to a variety of musical genres. This allows dancers to develop their individuality, musicality, and confidence as performers.

Contemporary dance challenges students to move beyond traditional technique by exploring dynamics, creativity, and personal expression. Dancers learn how to use space, energy, and emotion to communicate through movement while continuing to build strength, coordination, and body awareness. The skills developed in contemporary training complement many other dance styles, making it a valuable addition to a dancer’s overall education.

Our Contemporary program provides a supportive environment where dancers can take risks, discover their own movement style, and grow both technically and artistically. Whether students are looking to expand their dance experience, improve performance skills, or explore a more expressive form of movement, Contemporary Dance offers an exciting and rewarding experience.

Dress Code: Dancers should wear comfortable, fitted clothing that allows for full movement. Hair should be tied back securely. Bare feet or socks are worn for class.
