Atlantika Dance’s Teaching Assistant Program provides dedicated and experienced dancers with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain valuable teaching experience, and become positive role models within our dance community. Designed for students who are passionate about dance and interested in supporting younger dancers, this program allows participants to grow both personally and professionally while sharing their love of movement.
Teaching Assistants work alongside our instructors to help support younger students in classes such as ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and creative movement. Assistants help create a fun, encouraging, and welcoming environment while gaining hands-on experience in dance education, classroom management, and communication.
Participating in the Teaching Assistant Program helps dancers build important life skills, including confidence, responsibility, teamwork, patience, organization, and leadership. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to strengthen their connection to the studio, develop mentorship skills, and become more involved in the Atlantika Dance community.
All Teaching Assistants are required to attend our free Teacher Assistant Training class on Thursdays. This training provides students with the knowledge and tools needed to be successful assistants and effective leaders in the classroom.
Training topics include child development, leadership skills, classroom etiquette, theatre etiquette, injury prevention, safe dance practices, communication skills, and more. These skills help Teaching Assistants understand how to support dancers of different ages and abilities while creating a positive learning environment.
Whether students are interested in pursuing dance education, building leadership experience, or simply giving back to the studio that has supported them, the Teaching Assistant Program is a rewarding opportunity to continue growing as a dancer and as a leader.
