Tap

Get moving, make music, and build confidence with our tap dance classes at Atlantika Dance. Tap is a unique and exciting style of dance that combines movement, rhythm, and musical expression. Unlike many other dance styles, tap dancers use their feet as instruments, creating sounds and rhythms with metal taps attached to their shoes while performing coordinated steps and combinations.

Tap classes are a fun way for dancers to develop musicality, coordination, timing, balance, and rhythm while learning a variety of traditional and contemporary tap techniques. Classes focus on the fundamentals of tap, including basic steps, footwork, patterns, and combinations, while helping dancers understand how movement and music work together.

Inspired by the foundations of jazz music, tap encourages dancers to explore rhythm and creativity through both choreography and improvisation. Students may work with a variety of musical styles, including funk, rock, jazz, pop, and other upbeat genres, allowing them to experience different sounds and performance styles.

In addition to developing dance skills, tap helps students build confidence, focus, discipline, and quick thinking as they learn complex rhythms and coordinate movement with music. Whether a dancer is new to tap or continuing to develop their technique, our classes provide a supportive and energetic environment where students can challenge themselves and enjoy the excitement of making music through dance.

Dress Code: Dancers should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement and properly fitted tap shoes. Long hair should be securely tied back for class.
